How to get here?
Latvia is a member of the European Union (May 1st, 2004), Schengen area (December
21st 2007) and the Euro zone (January 1st, 2014). Latvia Joined NATO on March 29th 2004.
By flight: Riga International Airport (‘Starptautiskā Lidosta Rīga’ in Latvian) is located
10km southwest of Riga. The airport serves over 7 million passengers per year. The
Latvian national carrier AirBaltic serves 60 destinations. There are more than 90 direct
flights to Riga RIX international airport from all main airports in Europe.
By bus: Bus companies Ecolines, Eurolines, Lux Express, Flixbus and
others offer direct routes to Riga from Kaunas, Vilnius, Tartu, Tallinn,
Parnu, Warsaw, Paris, Berlin, Brussels, Antwerp, Amsterdam and other
cities for affordable prices.
By ferry: Latvia’s largest ports are in Riga, Ventspils and Liepāja. These cater for
regular ferry traffic from cities in Sweden and Germany.
